The TS3100 Tape Library combines IBM tape and automation reliability at open system prices. The TS3100 Tape Library is designed to support entry-level, unattended backup, open system attachment flexibility, and enhanced capacity and performance. The TS3100 Tape Library includes support for: IBM LTO Ultrium 8 half-high 6 Gb SAS and 8 Gb Fibre Channel (feature numbers 8547 and 8548) LTO Generation 8 media specification native data transfer rate up to 300 MB/sec LTO Generation 8 media specification tape cartridge compressed capacity of up to 30 TB with 2:5 to 1 compression. Support for LTO-7 cartridges initialized as Type M media (using the appropriate level of drive firmware on LTO 8 tape drives), allowing to write 9 TB of data on a brand new LTO-7 cartridge, instead of the 6 TB as specified by the LTO-7 format Encryption on LTO Ultrium 8, 7, 6, 5 and 4 tape drives LTO-8 media partitioning and self-describing tape with IBM Linear Tape File System (LTFS) Library Edition and IBM LTFS Storage Manager software Adherence to LTO specifications The TS3100 can accommodate up to two Ultrium half-high tape drives or one Ultrium full-high tape drive with 24 cartridge slots in two removable magazines, including a standard one-cartridge I/O station, a remote management unit, and barcode reader.
